What this calculator includes

A Level 2 charger is 240-volt EVSE. The sticker on the box is only one line. Most households also pay an electrician for a dedicated circuit — and then pay the utility every time the car plugs in.

Defaults use US 2025–2026 ballparks: portable units around $250$700, wall-mounted stations around $400$1,200, a simple indoor circuit around $400$1,500, and a panel or service upgrade around $2,000$4,500. Electricity starts at a national residential-style rate you should replace with your bill.

How the math works

Optional gasoline comparison uses the same monthly miles, a miles-per- gallon stand-in, and a $/gallon price. It is a fuel-cost sketch, not a total cost of ownership model (no insurance, tires, or residual value).
